Out With The Old; The New Has Better Immunity

With the onset of Virginia and the New England colonies, which will bring about Pennsylvania due to dissension and a call for further freedoms (of religion, mainly), we see more and more Indians dispersed and riddled with disease. Look at this map (click read more to see it and then click on the map for a large format). Remember that the indigenous people of America were throughout the continent. What are your thoughts?

  1. The Europeans brought with them diseases which the Indians were not accustomed to and therefore had no way treat them. In addition to the diseases, the Indians were slaughtered and their lands confiscated. Those that managed to escape the violent onslaught of the Europeans were forced to settle in parts of the continent which were not particularly favorable to them.
It is quite ironic that at the same time the Indians were being victimized, the Europeans in the colinies of Virginia and New England, sought to establish the concepts of civil and religious freedon.

  2. Before the Puritans coming from England, the Indians inhabited parts of America. Seeking a new way of life, the Indians dwelled in. Because of their belief, they imposed their faith on the Indians overtaking their land and identity. Some diseases were brought overseas killing out some of the Indians.

  4. The Indians were taken over by England and therefore contracted the diseases that were brought over by the Purtains. Also the Purtains forced there beliefs and religion on the Indians which forced the Indians to disperse.

  5. The Indians was living on the land freely until the Puritans came looking for freedom. Seem's to me they could have learned from each other without forcing their ways on the indians they had their own religion. It could'nt have been about the freedom of worship because God does not force Himself on people.

  6. The indians were living just fine until these Puritans came about, bringing all of their ideas of how things should be- and lets not leave out the sickness and diseases they brought also. They just disrupted the Indians way of living- killing them off with sickness and imprisoning those that wouldn't follow suit!

  8. Purtians had a different aspect on religious beleifs and should have shown logical reasoning with the Indians, although they invaded the Indians settlement.
